In this example, the SNMP community is configured as READ only.

Step Command Description
Show the initial SNMP configuration. The initial status of SNMP is disabled.

SHOW SNMP Shows that SNMP is disabled.
Use the ENABLE SNMP command so you can create an SNMP community

ENABLE SNMP Enables SNMP for the device.

SHOW SNMP Shows that SNMP is now enabled.
Enable SNMP authentication traps.

ENABLE SNMP AUTHENTICATE_TRAP Captures authentication failure traps.
Create the community, with the community name and the list of trusted trap hosts and management stations.

Enable the SNMP community, and then enable traps for that community
