TRACEROUTE FROM
Syntax
TRACEROUTE={ ipaddress | hostname } [ FROM { INTERFACE={ type:id |
id | ifname } | IPADDRESS=ipaddress } ] [ MINTTL=number ] [
MAXTTL=number ] [ TIMEOUT=seconds ] [ TOS=0..255 ] [ NORESOLVE ]
Description Used to trace the path to a specified destination. It displays intermediate nodes (hops) on
this path along with round trip times from source to that node in milliseconds for three
ICMP probes.
TRACEROUTE command accepts an IP address of a destination in dotted decimal form
or a DNS resolvable hostname.
The command allows users to specify several optional traceroute parameters (see table).
If none of these parameters are specified, defaults will be used.
This command can be executed only by users with a SECURITYOFFICER privilege level
or higher. TRACEROUTE can only be executed one user at a time.
Options The following table gives the range of values for each option that can be specified with
this command and a default value (if applicable).

TRACE-
ROUTE
Destination of the TRACEROUTE request.
ipaddress - IP address of the TRACEROUTE destination
hostname - DNS name of the TRACEROUTE destina-
tion.
FROM Specifies a source INTERFACE or IPADDRESS from
which the traceroute originates.
INTERFACE - The interface from which the TRACER-
OUTE request originates.
type:id-range - the type of available ports, such as
ETH:7.0 or a range (ETH:8.0-8.9)
ifname-list - list of interface names, if not numerical
IPADDRESS - The IP address of the source of the
TRACEROUTE request.
MINTTL The minimum Time To Live parameter (1-30 ms) 1 ms
MAXTTL The maximum Time to Live (1-30 ms). 30 ms
TIMEOUT The maximum allowed time in seconds to receive an
ICMP response from a node (3 seconds is the default
maximum).
