Subsection 01 (IGNITION SYSTEM)
Static Test
All Engines
– Disconnect MAG side spark plug wire and
connect wire to grounding device then remove
spark plug.
CAUTION: Never crank engine with spark plugs
removed unless spark plug cables are connect-
ed to the grounding device.
– Remove PTO flywheel guard.
717 Engines
– Install timing mark pointer tool on engine using
wing nuts previously removed.

1. Timing mark pointer tool (P/N 295 000 130)
787 RFI Engines
– Remove middle screw securing the engine to
the rear engine mount. Reinstall screw with
timing mark pointer tool.

1. Timing mark pointer tool (P/N 295 000 135)
All Engines
– Install and adjust a TDC gauge (P/N 295 000
143) in MAG side spark plug hole.

1. TDC gauge on MAG side
– Rotate PTO flywheel counterclockwise (when
facing it) until piston is at top dead center.
