Assign the Encryption Key to a Partition
Overview Aftercreatinganencryptionkey,youcanassignittooneor
morepartitions.Theencryptionchoicesavailableforapartitiondependon
thehardwareassignedtothepartition.
Notes: TheEncryptionscreeninthepartitionwizardletsyouenable
theencryptionfeaturesforthepartition.Itonlydisplaysif
youareloggedinasanencryptionuserandalreadycreated
anencryptionkeyasdescribedinCreateanEncryptionKey
onpage303.
Bydefault,LTO‐4andlatergenerationdrivesareconfigured
tocompressdata.Ifnecessary,useyourstoragemanagement
softwaretomodifythedrivepropertysettingstoturnoff
compression.
SpectraSKLMkeymanagementisnotcompatiblewith
BlueScaleEncryptionkeymanagement,becausetheycannot
shareencryptionkeys.DataencryptedusingSpectraSKLM
keymanagementcannotbedecryptedusingBlueScale
Encryptionkeymanagement,andviceversa.
Usethefollowingstepstoassignakeytoapartitionandencryptalldata
senttothepartition.
1. Accesstheencryptionfeature(seeLogIntotheEncryptionFeatureon
page284).
Note: Ifyouarenotalreadyloggedinasanencryptionuser,youmust
entertheencryptionpasswordbeforeyoucreateoredita
partitionusingtheBlueScalepartitionwizard.Ifyouarenot
loggedin,theEncryptionscreendoesnotdisplay.
2. ClickMENU,thenselectConfiguration > Partitions.
3. ClickNewtocreateapartition,orclickEdittomodifythesettingsforan
existingpartition(see
CreatingaStoragePartitiononpage169).
4. NavigatethroughthepartitionconfigurationwizardbyclickingNext
untiltheEncryptionscreendisplays.
