3. Remove the Viton tubing connection(s).
For the Halogen Trap, remove the tubing from the inlet (barbed) connection
coming from the Y11 Valve.
For the Aerosol Absorber, remove the tubing from the inlet (barbed) connection
coming from Gas Cooler Unit outlet.
4. Remove the Halogen Trap (HS2) from the clamps and disassemble. This Filter
contains Brass Wool and Zinc Chips.
5. Remove the Aerosol Absorber (HS1) from the clamps and disassemble. This Filter
contains Glass Wool.
6. Check the top and bottom caps for contamination and clean with DI water.
7. For each glass tube, remove the spent filter packing and rinse the glass tube with DI
water. Do not damage or scratch the glass hardware!
8. Dispose of the spent filter packing according to local guidelines.
9. For each glass tube, check the gasket in the upper cap and replace if damaged.
10. Important! Ensure that the glass tube is completely dry before installing new
filter packing. Ensure the bottom fitting is installed on the glass tube and begin to fill
it from the top.
11. For the Halogen Trap: Carefully insert the first section of Brass Wool into the glass
Tube. Do not over-compact the material or it may increase the Furnace pressure.
IMPORTANT! There is a small blue line at the bottom of the glass Tube. Do not
allow the filter packing material to pass below that level.
12. Next, pour the Zinc Chips to be on top of the Brass Wool. Do not overfill.
13. Lastly, carefully insert the second section of Brass Wool into the glass tube on top of
the Zinc Chips. Do not over-compact the material or it may increase the “Pressure
Reactor” Sensor reading. This may cause an increase in the Gas Way. See Figure 6-
3 on page 187.
IMPORTANT! Do not allow any brass wool threads to get caught in between
the upper cap and glass. This will cause a Carrier Gas Leak. Do not allow the
filter packing to sit too high inside the glass tube. The packing material should not
extend into the “threads” portion of the glass tube.
14. For the Aerosol Absorber: Carefully insert the Glass Wool into the glass Tube. Do
not over-compact the material or it may increase the Furnace pressure. See Figure 6-
2 on page 186.
IMPORTANT! There is a small blue line at the bottom of the glass Tube. Do not
allow the filter packing material to pass below that level.
