Sievers TOC-R3 Operation and Maintenance Manual
DLM 95000-01 EN Rev. A 211 © Veolia 2023
Furnace Cooling Guidance: Turn the Furnace Off and open the Analyzer door.
Allow the Analyzer to remain On so the Carrier Gas continues to flow into the
Furnace, thus cooling it down faster. After 5.5 hours, the Furnace will be below
148 °C (300 °F). Always wear appropriate PPE if handling components that are
hotter than room temperature.
4. Put on the appropriate thermal protection PPE, if the Analyzer is not completely
cooled down.
5. Open the Analyzer door.
6. Remove the Furnace Access Cover from the bottom of the Analyzer enclosure.
Release the four captive screws anticlockwise. Set the Cover aside somewhere safe.
7. Locate the Furnace Foot Assembly below the Furnace.
8. Remove the Furnace Foot Assembly as a single unit.
C. From the right side compartment, disconnect the Transfer Tube from the Gas
Cooler Unit. Disconnect the other end of the Transfer Tube from the Furnace
Foot Assembly.
D. Remove the Transfer Tube from the Analyzer and set it aside somewhere
safe.
E. Loosen the Furnace Foot Z-brackets holding the Furnace Foot Assembly in
place and carefully rotate them away from the Furnace Foot Assembly.
F. Working from below the Analyzer through the Furnace Access Port, carefully
pull the Furnace Foot Assembly off of the Furnace Sleeve. If needed, the
Furnace Foot Assembly can be removed in individual pieces.
9. Inspect the bottom of the Furnace Cartridge for contaminants. Continue to “To Inspect
the Bottom of the Furnace Cartridge” on page 211. This hardware is now accessible.
10. If maintenance is required for the Furnace Foot Assembly, this hardware is now
accessible. For more information, see “To Clean or Replace the Furnace Foot
Assembly” on page 212.
To Inspect the Bottom of the Furnace Cartridge
Caution
Do not look directly into the bottom of the Furnace. Small particles could
potentially escape the Furnace and enter the eye. Use a mirror or camera
to inspect the bottom of the Furnace while the Furnace Foot is off.
If the Furnace is On, the Furnace Foot Assembly will be very hot. Use
gloves that offer thermal protection from hot parts.
