Preparing the Analyzer for Extended Maintenance
To Prepare the Analyzer for Extended Maintenance
1. If the Analyzer is taking measurements, press the ONLINE button in the top right
corner to stop analysis and set the Analyzer to “Offline” mode.
2. Before performing any maintenance tasks, it is highly recommended to create a
backup of files and settings. For more information, see “Backing up the Analyzer
Settings” on page 184.
3. Acquire the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the maintenance you are
performing.
4. If you are working on the Furnace, power “O
FF” the Furnace from the Menu
Service Furnace Control screen. Allow the Furnace to cool down for an adequate
amount of time before performing maintenance. This could take up to 8 hours. To
check the Furnace Temperature while the Furnace Power is “Off”, see “To check the
Furnace Temperature while the Furnace is Off on page 147.
Furnace Cooling Guidance: Turn the Furnace OFF and open the Analyzer door.
Allow the Analyzer to remain On so the Carrier Gas continues to flow into the
Furnace, thus cooling it down faster. After 5.5 hours, the Furnace will be below
148 °C (300 °F). Always wear appropriate PPE if handling components that are
hotter than room temperature.
5. Acquire any required service and spare parts for replacement.
6. Acquire any appropriate consumables for replacement.
7. Acquire DI Water for cleaning, paper towels, brush, and thin steel wire, depending on
the maintenance task(s) you are performing.
8. Continue to “Extended Maintenance Procedures” on page 199
.
EXTENDED MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
Many of the extended maintenance procedures require deeper access to the Analyzer interior
and hardware components. All procedures related to the Furnace require extended time for the
Furnace to completely cool before performing maintenance.
