CREATE TRAFFICDESCRIPTOR RATE BURSTSIZE
Syntax
CREATE TRAFFICDESCRIPTOR=tdname RATE=bits-per-second BURSTSIZE={
4KB | 8KB | 16KB | 32KB | 64KB | 128KB | 256KB | 512KB | 1MB | 2MB
| 4MB | 8MB | 16MB | 32MB | 64MB }
Description Creates a new TRAFFICDESCRIPTOR. A TRAFFICDESCRIPTOR is used to define the
maximum bandwidth and buffer memory (defined by RATE and BURSTSIZE) allowed for
a particular traffic flow. Particular traffic flows can be metered and/or policed by associat-
ing a TRAFFICDESCRIPTOR with a classifier. The classifier identifies the packets that
make up the traffic flow, and the TRAFFICDESCRIPTOR describes the maximum values
allowed for that traffic flow. See the command "ADD TRAFFICDESCRIPTOR" for help
on how to associate a TRAFFICDESCRIPTOR to a classifier. The RATE (CIR) must be in
1kb increments and can use K or M, such as “128K” or “3M”. The BURSTSIZE (CBS) is
in 2n increments, with the values already provided. CAC is not supported. Refer to
Ta b l e 6-8 for values that are used for the SBx3112.
Options The following table gives the range of values for each option that can be specified with
this command and a default value (if applicable).
Example CREATE TRAFFICDESCRIPTOR=large_rate RATE=2M BURSTSIZE=128KB
Option Description Default Value
TRAFFICDE-
SCRIPTOR
The unique name of the TRAFFICDESCRIPTOR
RATE Specifies the rate to which transmitted traffic must be
limited (in bits per second). The rate may exceed this
value for up to the specified BURSTSIZE for a brief time.
The value must be a non-zero multiple of 8K bits-per-
second. The value may have a suffix of "KB" (meaning
times 1,000) or "M".
BURSTSIZE Specifies the maximum size burst of traffic that is
allowed to exceed the specified RATE. The value is
entered from among an enumerated list of allowable val-
ues.
