Clinician’s Position for Alarm Monitoring
CareFusion recommends that the clinician's position should be at a distance no greater than 1 meter to
monitor visual alarm signals, four meters to monitor alarm condition and priority, and in proximity of the
device so that any auditory alarm can be heard. The distance to monitor auditory alarms will vary
depending upon your facility's acoustics and ambient sound. Auditory alarms signal sound pressure levels
that are less than ambient levels can impede the clinician’s recognition of an alarm condition and the alarm
system.
