Bolus Dose Range:
Configured according to hospital best-practice guidelines.
Bolus Volume, Maximum
after Occlusion:
Bolus Volume, Maximum after Occlusion is measured using two different setups.
The first setup simulates an actual clinical setup and includes a device at heart height, a
full length administration set, and an 18 gauge needle at the end of the administration set.
Test setup uses a 50/60 mL syringe at 5 mL/h.
Use the smallest compatible syringe size necessary to deliver the
fluid or medication; this is especially important when infusing
high risk or life-sustaining medications at low infusion rates.
The second setup is a laboratory test setup that includes a 1 meter administration set, a
device above the height of the collection container, rigid tubing connecting the
administration set to a pressure transducer, and no needle at the end of the administration
set.

Maximum Bolus Volume specifications are based on following standard operating
conditions:
Atmospheric Pressure: 645 - 795 mmHg
Disposable Type: #30883
Humidity: 20 - 90%
Rate: 5 mL/h
Syringe Type: 50/60 mL (clinical), 20 mL (laboratory)
Temperature: 68 ±4°F
Volume Collection Time: approximately 2 minutes
Critical Volume:
Maximum over-infusion which can occur in the event of a single-fault condition will not
exceed 2% of nominal syringe fill volume dur
ing loading and 1% of maximum syringe
travel after syringe loading.
