G00 – Rapid Positioning Motion
For programming positioning movement at rapid speed. This is used for traversing between parts. The
machine will execute this movement at the maximum feed rate.
FORMAT: G00 Xn Yn
G01 – Linear Cutting Motion
For programming linear cutting movements. A straight line is programmed by specifying the endpoint of
the line. Optionally, the Feed Rate may be programmed with the F command.
FORMAT: G01 Xn Yn
Or: G01 Xn Yn Fn
Figure 99: Programming a Straight Line
Incremental
In incremental, the dimension specified is the displacement from the start point of the line. If there is
motion only in one axis, then other axis dimension need not be programmed.
EXAMPLE: G01 X+5.0 Y+10.0
Or: G01 X+5.0 Y+10.0 F22.0
Absolute
In absolute, the dimension specified is the absolute coordinate of the endpoint. If a dimension is
omitted, it is assumed that the endpoint in that axis is at the same absolute dimension as the start point.
EXAMPLE: G01 X+6.0 Y+14.0
OR: G01 X+6.0 Y+14.0 F22.0
