Configuring Static Routes
Static routes are used to define an explicit path between two network devices. Use the ipv6 route
command to configure an IPv6 static route in router global configuration mode. You must specify
the destination IPv6 prefix and length, and either the global IPv6 address of the next hop or the
VLAN or tunnel output interface, and the link-local address of the next hop. Optionally, you can
specify a preference value for the route.
Procedure 25-4 on page 25-10 lists the commands used to configure IPv6 static routes. Refer to the
CLI Reference for your platform for more information about the commands listed below.
