Provision Alarm Level for ICMP Echo Requests Beyond PM

Purpose
ICMP echo request alarm alerts the switch personnel of a potential
security problem. The Threshold Alarm Level view (RC/V 8.29) is
used to enable or disable the alarm.
When to use
This procedure is executed to enable the ICMP Echo Request Alarm.
By default the alarm is disabled.

Admonishments
Disabling the alarm could cause a security problem to go unnoticed
by the switch personnel.
Before you begin
Required Tools
• Supplemental Trunk Line Workstation (STLWS) or Recent
Change and Verify (RC/V) terminal
• Access to RC/V Menu Interface
Required Material
• The 5ESS
®
switch must be running a 5E16.2 FR3 software
release or later with the SIP for Packet Trunking - NAR feature
software.

Required Conditions
• Secured Feature 684 is enabled (RC/V 8.22)
• SIP GSM is defined (RC/V 5.80)
