Associations in the 5ESS
®
switch are static and they are determined
by the provisioning. Associations are established when a SIP PH pair
is initialized.
Paths
An association is a method to logically link two endpoints together to
transfer data. A path is the physical route through the network
between two associated endpoints. The number of paths from one
endpoint to another depends on the number of transport addresses
homed on each endpoint. Single-homed association endpoints have
only one path between two endpoints. Multi-homed endpoints have
more than one path between two endpoints. For example, if an
