6.14.6 Replacing Drive Chain on Double Reel
The drive chain allows the hydraulic reel drive motor to turn the reel. It can be replaced if damaged or worn.
DANGER
To prevent bodily injury or death from the unexpected start-up of the machine, always stop the engine and remove the
key from the ignition before leaving the operators seat for any reason.
1. Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.
2. Loosen the drive chain. For instructions, refer to Loosening Reel Drive Chain, page 489.
3. Support the inboard end of the right reel with a front end loader and nylon slings (A) (or equivalent lifting device).
IMPORTANT:
Support the reel as close to the end disc as possible to avoid damaging or denting the center tube.

4. Remove four bolts (A) securing the reel tube to U-joint
flange (B).

5. Move the right reel sideways to separate reel tube (A) from
U-joint (B).
6. Remove drive chain (C).
7. Route new chain (C) over U-joint (B) and position it onto
the sprockets.
