The following points describe the expected results for certain reel position adjustments:
• To position the fingers closer to the ground, adjust the reel forward , while tilting the header back.
NOTE:
Fingers or tines will dig into the ground at extreme reel-forward positions, so adjust the skid shoes or the header angle
to compensate.
• To prevent plugging on the cutterbar in the thinner crops, adjust the reel aft.
– Increase the header angle to position the reel closer to the ground
– Decrease the header angle to position the reel farther from the ground
• For maximum stubble height in the lodged crop, raise the header, increase the header angle, and position the reel fully
forward.
• For the maximum crop carrying capacity (largest area of exposed draper between the reel and the header backsheet)
position the reel in the farthest forward position.
• For the minimum crop carrying capacity (smallest area of exposed draper between the reel and the header backsheet)
position the reel in the farthest aft position.
NOTE:
Due to the nature of the reel cam action, at higher cam settings the reel finger tip speed at the cutterbar is higher than the
reel speed.
