Specifying Failure of Power Cable
Since a failure of power cable is not detected by BID (Build In Diagnostic), judge if the cable must
be replaced or not for a failure.
When the AC power is properly supplied to the power supply unit, the status LED of the unit
blinks in green. When the DC power is properly supplied, the status LED of the unit lights in
green.
If the status LED of the unit remains unlit after checking the following points, replace the power
cable as the cable may be failed.
1. Is the power supply unit properly connected to the server and the releasing lever locked?
2. Is the power cable properly connected to the AC inlet of the power supply unit?
3. Is the switch of outlet box (PDU) on?
4. Is the power cable properly connected to the outlet box (PDU) or to the outlet?
5. Is the power properly supplied to the outlet box (PDU)?
Check the following points to find the potential cause of the problem if possible.
For the combination of the power supply unit functioning properly and the power cable:
a. Connect the properly functioning power cable to the power supply unit that the suspected
cable is connected.
b. Connect the suspected power cable to the power supply unit that is properly functioning.
Example) In the case of “a.”
Example) In the case of “b.”

does not light.
If status LED of power unit 4 blinks and lights, the
unit is functioning properly and the power cable is
suspected as a failure.

Status LED of power unit 4
does not light.
If status LED of power unit 3 does not blink
or light, the power cable is suspected as a
failure.
