D-42 The MassLynx Tune window
* The Accelerating V maximum value depends on the voltage settings in the
Instrument Setup dialog box.
** The Magnet Mass maximum value depends on the magnet settings in the
Instrument Setup dialog box.
Specifying the Accelerating V value
The Control 1 tab’s Accelerating V parameter controls the magnet in two
different ways, depending on whether you enter a value in the text box, or use
the slider to set the value.
The relationship between the mass (m), the magnetic field strength (B), and
accelerating voltage (V) is:
If you change the value of Accelerating V using the slider, the value of V
changes and the value of B remains constant. Hence the value of m changes
and the displayed peak moves within the Tune window peak display.
If you change the value of Accelerating V is using the text box, the values of V
and B both change, so that the value of m does not change, and the peak
remains at the same position in the peak display.
