High resolution tuned peak:
5. Click File > Save As to save the high resolution tuning parameters to a
new instrument parameter file (*.ipr).
Additional notes concerning manual instrument tuning
The following controls on the Tune window’s Control 2 tab affect instrument
tuning.
Ion Energy
Ion Energy is not a tuning lens control, as such. It controls the offset energy of
the ions relative to the accelerating voltage (set on the Control 1 tab in the
Accelerating V control box).
The ion beam intensity drops off at larger positive and negative values of Ion
Energy because the ion beam hits the ESA1 and ESA2 plates. For optimum
tuning set the value of Ion Energy midway between these drop-off points.
