To clean the ion volume
Use a cotton bud to rub a mixture of lapping paste and methanol on all the
surfaces (inner and outer) of the ion volume until they are free of visible ion
burn.
To clean the locating dowels
Using 9-
lapping paper, clean all the surfaces of the locating dowels.
Ultrasonically cleaning the chamber assembly components
To ultrasonically clean the chamber assembly components
1. Immerse the metallic chamber assembly components (including the
screws and washers, but excepting the filament), in a glass vessel
containing a recommended solvent.
Warning: Cleaning the chamber assembly components requires the use
of solvents and chemicals that can be flammable and hazardous to
health.
Warning: The chamber assembly components can be contaminated
with toxic materials. Wear nitrile gloves at all times while handling
the components.
Caution: To avoid damage, do not clean the filament and ceramic
components in the ultrasonic bath.
