Source Focus 1 and Focus 2 lenses
The Source Focus 1 and Source Focus 2 lenses are used to refocus an image of
the ion source fixed slit onto the source slit (adjustable object slit).
The Source Focus 1 lens is part of the outer source assembly, which is located
in the source housing. It is controlled by Focus 1 in the Tune window’s Source
tab.
The Source Focus 2 lens is part of the source focus lens assembly, which is
located before the source isolation valve in the source housing. It is controlled
by Focus 2 in the Tune window’s Source tab.
Beam Center lens
The Beam Center lens comprises two assemblies located on either side of the
Source Focus 2 lens. It is used to guide the ion beam through the source slit. It
is controlled by Beam Centre on the Tune window’s Source tab.
Z Deflect 1 lens
The Z Deflect 1 lens is used to deflect the ion beam onto the source slit. It is
controlled by Z Deflect 1 on the Tune window’s Lenses 1 tab.
