7. Remove the septum from the injection port.
8. Fit the new septum to the injection port, with the gray Teflon
®
side
facing downward and the yellow rubber side facing upward.
9. Refit and loosely tighten the injection port thumbscrew.
10. Push a syringe needle through the septum.
11. Finger tighten the thumbscrew.
12. Remove the syringe needle from the septum.
13. Open the reference inlet valve.
14. Wait for 10 minutes to ensure that air is pumped out of the injection
port.
15. Set Capillary Line 1, Capillary Line 2, Re-entrant, and Septum to the
required values.
Source maintenance
This section describes the maintenance of the instrument’s source, which
comprises an inner source chamber assembly and an outer source assembly
mounted in the source housing.
Caution: When fitting the new septum, note the color and orientation,
because an incorrectly-fitted septum causes air leakage.
