Flat-topped, correctly triangulated, and over-triangulated ion beams
Dual ion detector
The dual conversion dynode ion detector incorporates two conversion dynodes,
a phosphor, and a photomultiplier. The dynodes are arranged off axis to allow
the ion beam through when the dynodes are grounded, and to intercept and
detect the ion beam when the dynodes are charged.
You can adjust the system gain by varying the voltage applied to the
photomultiplier, using the slider control on the Tune window ‘s Control 2 tab.
You can use this detector to detect positive and negative ions without
switching polarity.
