Considerations specific to the Autospec Premier
The Waters
®
AutoSpec Premier™ mass spectrometer is designed solely for use
as a mass spectrometer; any attempt to use it for any other purpose can
damage the instrument, and will invalidate its warranty.
The instrument conforms to European standard EN61010-1:2001, safety
requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and
laboratory use – Part 1: General requirements.
The instrument was designed and tested according to recognized safety
standards. If the instrument is used in a manner not specified by the
manufacturer, the protection provided to the user can be impaired.
When the safety protection of the instrument is compromised, disconnect the
instrument from all power sources, and secure the instrument against
unintended operation.
The instrument must be installed so that the operator can easily isolate the
instrument from the main power supply at all times.
Solvent leakage hazard
The source exhaust system is designed to be robust and leak-tight. Waters
recommends you perform a hazard analysis, assuming a maximum leak into
the laboratory atmosphere of 10% LC eluate.
Warning:
• To confirm the integrity of the source exhaust system, renew
the source O-rings at intervals not exceeding one year.
• To avoid chemical degradation of the source O-rings, which can
withstand exposure only to certain solvents see “Solvents used
to prepare mobile phases” on page B-3, to determine whether
any solvents you use that are not listed are chemically
compatible with the composition of the O-rings.
