Loss of CAN Communication from ACCESS 2 to
ACCESS 1 Display.
Step 1: Check +BV and BNEG power connections to
ACCESS 2.
• If: OK.
– Then proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Check CAN communication path. With key off
check resistance across pins CA202-3 and CA202-4
on the Distribution Panel. Correct measurement is 60
ohm. Across pins CA201-12 and CA201-13 is 60 ohm.
• If: 60 Ohm.
– Then CAN communication line is correct. Pro-
ceed to Step 4.
• If: Approximately 120 ohm.
– Proceed to Step 3.
Step 3: Connection between ACCESS 2 and
ACCESS 1 has been interrupted. Check for loose con-
nection at CA405-18 and CA405-19 on ACCESS 2
(DC) or CA406-1 and CA406-3 (AC) module or
CA215-18 and CA215-19 on ACCESS 1.
• If: Connection loose.
– Repair/replace connection.
• If: Connections OK.
– Proceed to Step 4.
Step 4: Disconnect CA215 from ACCESS 1. Measure
resistance across pins CA215-18 and CA215-19 (CAN
low and CAN high). The correct measurement is ap-
proximately 120 ohm.
• If: Less or greater than 120 ohm.
– Replace ACCESS 1.
• If: Approximately 120 ohm.
– Proceed to Step 5.
Step 5: Disconnect CA405 on ACCESS 2 and mea-
sure across pins 18 and 19 (On AC Models, disconnect
CA406 on ACCESS 2 and measure resistance across
pins 3 and 1). The correct measurement is approxi-
mately 120 ohm.
• If: Resistance is less than or greater than 120 ohm.
– Replace ACCESS 2.
• If: Resistance measures approximately 120 ohm.
– Then proceed to Step 6.
Step 6: Check CAN low line for continuity from CA405
pin 19 (CA406 pin 1 for AC lift models) to CA215 pin 19.
• If: High resistance or open connection is mea-
sured.
– Then a short or open circuit has occurred.
Trace wiring and repair/replace as necessary.
