ACCESS 2 lost CAN communication.
Step 1: Verify +BV at CA231-7 and CA231-10 with
negative reference at CA231-8 BNEG cable.
• If: Correct.
– Then proceed to Step 2.
• If: Not correct.
– Then verify KYS, K1 & FU5 operation and re-
pair.
Step 2: Check CAN communication path. With key off
check line resistance from CA202-3 to CA202-4 on the
Distribution Panel. Correct measurement across pins 3
and 4 is 60 ohm. Across pins CA201-12 and CA201-13
is 60 ohm.
• If: 60 ohm.
– Then CAN communication line is correct, pro-
ceed to Step 3.
• If: Approximately 120 ohm.
– Then the CAN connection between ACCESS 2
and ACCESS 1 has been interrupted. Check
for loose connection at CA405-18 and
CA405-19 on ACCESS 2 (DC) or CA406-1 and
CA406-3 (AC) module or CA215-18 and
CA215-19 on ACCESS 1.
• If: Connections correct.
– Then proceed to Step 3.
Step 3: Disconnect CA215 from ACCESS 1 Display.
On the ACCESS 1 Display measure resistance across
pins 18 and 19 (CAN low and CAN high). Correct mea-
surement is approximately 120 ohm.
• If: 120 ohm.
– Then disconnect CA405 on ACCESS 2 (DC)
and measure across pins 18 and 19. (On AC
Models, disconnect CA406 on ACCESS 2 and
measure resistance across pins 3 and 1). The
correct measurement is approximately 120
ohm.
• If: Resistance is less than or greater than 120
ohms on either ACCESS 1 or ACCESS 2.
– Then the issue is internal to ACCESS 2. Re-
place ACCESS 2.
• If: The resistance measures approx 120 ohms on
both ACCESS 1 and ACCESS 2.
– Then proceed to Step 4.
Step 4: Disconnect CAN line at ACCESS 2. Check
CAN low line for continuity from CA405-19 (DC) or
CA406-1 (AC) to CA215-18.
• If: High resistance or open connection is mea-
sured.
– Then a short or open circuit has occurred.
Trace wiring and repair/replace as necessary.
• If: Low line is correct.
– Then proceed to Step 5.
Step 5: Check CAN high line for continuity from
CA405-18 (DC) or CA406-3 (AC) to CA215-19.
• If: High resistance or open connection is mea-
sured.
– Then a short or open circuit has occurred.
Trace wiring and repair/replace as necessary.
• If: Low line is correct.
– Then replace ACCESS 2.
