LIFTING MECHANISM
Mast
Mast Reassembly
1. Clean column roller studs at the top of the outer
mast. If any paint or rust is evident on the studs,
remove with emery cloth and grease with multi-
purpose grease, Crown No. 063002-024.
2. Place two 0.76 mm (0.030 in) shims, Crown No.
060030-085, on each of the four studs and install
column rollers. Two studs at the top of the outer
mast and two studs at the bottom of the intermedi-
ate mast.
3. Use inside caliper and measure between the two
rollers on the outer mast. Refer to Figure 16949.
The column roller studs are canted, measure at nar-
rowest part of rollers.
4. Measure the outside of the intermediate mast,
along the area where the outer mast column rollers
will travel, with the outside caliper. Refer to Figure
16949.
5. After finding the widest contact point, lock the
thumb screws and place the inside calipers and
outside calipers together and determine the
amount of shimming to be added to (or removed
from) the column rollers. When shimming column
rollers, try to balance out the number of shims on
each side. Example: Two shims on right side and
two shims on left side on column roller studs. If an
odd number of shims are required, refer to Figure
16950.
6. Follow the above procedure for measuring the in-
termediate mast lower column rollers and the in-
side of the outer mast channels at the rollers con-
tact point. After measurements have been taken,
shim as required.
