NOTE: When you remove multiple switches from a rack, remove the switch in the top of the
rack first, then proceed to remove the rest of the switches from top to bottom.
Before removing a QFX5110 from a rack:
Ensure that the rack is stable and secured to the building.
Ensure that there is enough space to place the removed QFX5110 in its new location and along the path
to the new location.
Read “General Safety Guidelines and Warnings” on page 203.
Use the power off sequence described in “Powering Off a QFX5110” on page 406 to safely power off
the device.
Disconnect the power cords.
Ensure that you have disconnected any cables or wires attached to the QFX5110 switch ports or Precision
Time Protocol (PTP) ports.
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
A Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2 or number 3, depending on the size of your rack mounting screws,
for removing the QFX5110 from the rack.
To remove a QFX5110 from a rack or cabinet:
1. Have one person support the weight of the switch while another person uses the screwdriver to remove
the front mounting screws that attach the chassis mounting brackets to the rack or cabinet.
2. Remove the QFX5110 from the rack or cabinet.
3. Use the screwdriver to remove the mounting screws that attach the mounting blades attached to the
rear of the rack or cabinet.
4. Place the removed screws and mounting blades in a labeled bag. You will need them when you reinstall
the chassis.
5. Transport the QFX5110 to your new location.
