Thermal Element Condition
Figure 5.23 shows the logic that reports on the overall thermal health of the
transformer by generating four status messages in relation to Normal, Warning 1,
Warning 2, and Warning 3. These four messages are composed from various
Thermal Element Conditions (TEC), and grouped into three alarm categories, in
relation to Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 alarms. Figure 5.23 shows the reporting
process for Transformer 1 (similar logic for Transformers 2 and 3), starting with
the three alarm levels, the assessment of these levels, and the generation of the
warning messages (see Table 5.15). Figure 5.24 shows the reporting process for
Winding 1 when ETHERM = W (similar logic for Windings 2 and 3).

Viewing Information
The thermal report functions provide information about the thermal status of the
transformer(s) monitored by the SEL-2414 Transformer Monitor. There are four
different types of reports that display the present thermal status: thermal monitor
report, thermal event reports, hourly profile data, and daily profile data.
This section describes the quantities used in each of the reports and shows the
format for each of the THERM command displays as they appear on the screen.
Thermal Monitor Report Function (THE Command)
The THERM or THE command, with no additional parameters, displays the
present thermal status of the transformer(s) monitored by the device. If an alarm
condition is detected (one or more of the thermal Device Word bits are set), the
device saves a snapshot of the thermal status of the transformer to nonvolatile
memory. The format for the THE report is shown in the following screen capture
and Table 5.15 defines the quantities.
