7-70 Routine maintenance
To fit the source heaters
1. Slide the first source heater into the ion block.
2. Ensure that the small insulating ceramic is in place on one lead of the
source heater.
3. Fit and tighten the screw and washer securing the second source heater
lead to the ion block, ensuring that the lead is trapped between the
washer and the ion block.
4. Fit the shaped spacer and heater terminal to the ion block.
Caution: To avoid damage, handle the source heaters with great care;
they are very fragile.
Caution: To avoid short-circuiting the source heater, ensure that no
part of the heater lead, fitted with the insulating ceramic, is in contact
with the ion block.
