3. On the Inlets tab, set the Inlet Parameters (°C) as follows:
4. On the Control 2 tab, set Detector (V) to 200.
5. On the EI+ Source tab, set the following parameters:
To prepare the sample
1. Flame three Type D sample cups to red heat and allow to cool.
2. Prepare a methyl stearate solution of 200 pg/µl in hexane.
3. Place 1 µl of solution in each cup and allow the solvent to evaporate.
To tune the instrument
1. Tune the instrument as described in “Low resolution tuning” on
page 2-1.
2. When the low resolution tuning is complete, save the Tune window
parameters to a new instrument parameter file having an appropriate
file name, for example, AutoSpec_EI_sensitivity.ipr.

Caution: To avoid contaminating the sample, after flame-cleaning,
