3-28 Scanning techniques
To set up a VSIR function
1. In the MS method editor, click .
Alternative: Click Functions > Voltage SIR.
2. In the Voltage SIR function editor, enter the required parameters.
3. Click OK.
FI Set up Opens the FI Set up dialog box so you can specify
that an inter-scan current be applied to an field
ionization (FI) emitter.
Tip: This option is enabled only when you select FI+
or FI- selected as the ionization mode.
Total Cycle Time
(mS)
Displays the total cycle time, in milliseconds.
Primary Lock Span
(pw)
The span, in peak widths, over which the lock-mass
is initially be scanned.
Secondary Lock
Span (pw)
The span, in peak widths, over which the lock-mass
is scanned, after it has been locked on for a certain
number of scans.
Lock Mass
Threshold (mV)
If the lock-mass peak intensity falls below this
value, in millivolts, the software no longer attempts
to use it to update the calibration. If the lock-mass
control is in Secondary Lock Span, it switches to
Primary Lock Span control until the lock-mass
peak’s intensity recovers.
Max step size (pw) The maximum step size of lock-mass corrections, in
peak widths.
Use fast lock-on Allows the first lock-mass correction to be larger
than the specified Max step size (pw).
