Use a feeler gauge to check the clear-
ance between the cam on the shaft and
the relative tappet for both rear head
shafts.
Characteristic
Acceptable values with control clearance be-
tween cam and valve
intake: 0.10 - 0.15 mm (0.0039 - 0.0059 in) ex-
haust: 0.20 - 0.25 mm (0.0079 - 0.0098 in)
Front cylinder head valves

Check the front valve head clearance and restore the correct clearance values if necessary,
proceeding as described below.
•
Remove both head covers, the alter-
nator side cover and remove the cap
on the clutch cover in order to rotate
the crankshaft.
•
Remove the O ring.
