8. Use the [GATE] key to position gate 1 so that the reflection from the second side-
drilled hole is within the gated region.
This reflection should be close to 1.5 in. (38.1 mm).
9. Press [GAIN] and adjust the gain so that the echo amplitude is at approximately
80
%.
A thickness measurement reading appears in large text above the A-scan.
10. Once a steady reading is achieved, choose 1/5 > Auto CAL > CAL Velocity.
The screen freezes and the Enter Value for Velocity Cal dialog box appears.
