244 Chapter 12
Focus Depth
Defines focus depth of inspection. For general applications, Max focus or
Unfocused are recommended. Focusing optimizes the transducer response for
indications at a particular depth.
The EPOCH 1000 Series is limited to 60 focal laws for a given probe setup. To avoid
focal law setup errors, use the following formula:
Once all items in the Beam setup page have been reviewed, use the [ESCAPE] key to
apply these settings and return to the live display.
After reviewing the Beam setup page, the instrument must recalculate all focal
laws based on any changes to the item definitions. This recalculation typically
takes less than 15 seconds.
12.3 Edit Probe Setup Page
The EPOCH 1000 Series allows you to connect any phased array probe/wedge
combination for use during inspection. If the phased array probe and/or wedge are
not available in the standard library from the Beam setup page, you must define a
custom probe and/or wedge before calibration and inspection.
For custom probe and wedge definitions, use the Edit Probe setup page accessible by
choosing 1/5
> PA Probe > Probe.
