17.3.1 Calibrating the Velocity With a Zero Degree Transducer
To calibrate the velocity with a zero degree transducer
1. Press [RANGE], and then enter an appropriate range for the calibration.
For this example, use 1.00 in. (25.4 mm).
2. Select 1/5 > PA CAL > CAL Mode = Velocity.
3. Press [ANGLE], and then adjust the selected focal law (angle) to 0°.
4. Couple the transducer to the 0.200 in. step of the calibration block.
5. Use the [GATE] key to position gate 1 so that the back-wall echo from the 0.200 in.
step of the block is exceeding the gate threshold.
6. Adjust the gain so that the echo amplitude is at approximately 80 %.
A thickness measurement reading appears in large text above the image.
