7. Choose 1/5 > PA CAL > Add to begin the calibration process.
The A-scan at the top of the screen is replaced by a new view representing the
amplitude reading (yellow line) for the gated indication across all focal laws (see
Figure 17-7 on page 284). Ideally, the thickness reading line should be a straight
line, indicating that the instrument is making the same thickness measurement
from the same reflector for each focal law (when that reflector is peaked up). In
this example, the uncalibrated line should look like the one shown in
Figure 17-10
on page 288.
