Using this gate adjustment during calibration, you can eliminate interfering
indications from other reflectors within a test block and acquire correct and valid
calibration data.
17.6 Calibration On and Off
The EPOCH 1000 Series allows you to toggle both the wedge delay and sensitivity
(gain) calibration on and off. Both calibrations have an impact on the image displayed
in the S-scan.
Wedge delay, while correcting for measurement readings, can make the S-scan image
appear slightly distorted from the natural image view. This is not a problem, as it
correctly represents the delay inherent across all focal laws, but you may find
advantages in viewing the same S-scan in a calibrated and uncalibrated mode.
