Software Features and Options (Conventional UT Mode) 199
Once the proper selection of DAC/TVG has been made (including activation of Ref
Correct where applicable), use the [ESCAPE] key to return to the live A-scan screen
and begin DAC/TVG setup.
Once in the live A-scan mode, a new menu appears (6/6), dedicated to DAC/TVG
features. This menu allows access to several important functions that control
DAC/TVG setup and operation.
To deactivate a DAC/TVG feature, return to the DAC/TVG setup page and, and then
set DAC/TVG Type
= Off.
In the following sections, all DAC/TVG modes are covered. The DAC/TVG setup
procedure is the same for all modes with the exception of TVG table. The setup is
covered in detail in the ASME/ASME-III section to follow. Any differences in the
procedure to set up other DAC/TVG modes are discussed in the pertinent section for
that particular mode.
11.2.2 ASME/ASME III DAC/TVG
The ASME DAC mode is a single DAC curve drawn from peak-to-peak on reference-
reflectors. The ASME III mode draws three DAC curves: one main curve from peak-
to-peak on the reference-reflectors and two warning curves at –6
dB and –14 dB
compared to the main curve.
11.2.3 ASME III DAC Setup Example
Once you have selected the desired DAC mode, the live A-scan display should appear
as shown in
Figure 11-3 on page 200.
