12. Probe and Beam Setup (Phased Array Mode)
This chapter describes how to set up a phased array probe on the EPOCH 1000 Series.
The topics are as follows:
• Automatic Probe Identification
• Beam Setup Page
• Edit Probe Setup Page
12.1 Automatic Probe Identification
The EPOCH 1000 Series features automatic probe identification for Olympus phased
array probes. When a phased array probe is plugged into the EPOCH
1000 Series, the
instrument beeps once and brings you directly to the Beam setup page for probe
setup.
If a phased array probe is plugged into the EPOCH 1000 Series while the
instrument is in conventional UT mode, the instrument provides a prompt which
allows you to switch to phased array mode or stay in conventional UT mode. If
you switch to phased array mode, the instrument switches modes and goes
straight the Beam setup page described in section 12.2 on page 240.
The EPOCH 1000 Series acquires probe information directly from Olympus phased
array probe specifications stored on the probe itself. If the probe cannot be identified,
it is possible to manually enter probe parameters (see section
12.3 on page 244).
