Backlash between 10T Bevel Gear and 51T Bevel Gear
1. Stick a strip of plastigauge to three spots on the 51T bevel gear
(6) with grease.
2. Assemble the front axle cover (2) and front gear case (3).
3. Turn the front axle (1).
4. Remove the front axle cover (2) from front gear case (3) and
measure the plastigauge with a gauge.
5. If the backlash is not within the factory specifications, adjust with
shim (5) and sharing the shim (7) and (8).

Thickness of adjusting shims
Shim (5):
0.4 mm (0.016 in.)
0.6 mm (0.02 in.)
0.8 mm (0.03 in.)
1.0 mm (0.039 in.)
1.2 mm (0.047 in.)
1.4 mm (0.055 in.)
Shim (7):
0.4 mm (0.016 in.)
0.6 mm (0.02 in.)
0.8 mm (0.03 in.)
1.0 mm (0.039 in.)
1.2 mm (0.047 in.)
Shim (8):
0.1 mm (0.004 in.)
0.2 mm (0.008 in.)
IMPORTANT
Tooth contact: More than 35 %.
If the tooth contact not proper, change the thickness of
shim (5) and sharing the shim (7) and (8) to adjusting.
After adjusting the tooth contact, check the backlash again.

Shim shown in the table below is used in each part in the
standard. There are some difference in the production lot.
