Removing the lower unit
1. Drain the gear oil.
2. Remove the propeller, trim tab, and lower
unit. See steps 2–7 in “Removing the
lower unit” (8-3).
TIP:
When disassembling the lower unit, measure
the backlash before disassembly. See “Mea-
suring the forward gear backlash and reverse
gear backlash before disassembly” (8-69).
