Removing the driven sprocket and
camshaft
When the timing belt is not installed, do
not turn the crankshaft or driven sprock-
ets. Otherwise, the pistons and valves
could collide with each other and be dam-
aged.
1. Remove the cylinder head cover.
2. Secure the camshaft using a wrench,
and then remove the driven sprockets
“1”.
3. Remove the camshaft caps “1” and “2”,
camshafts “3” and “4”, and oil seals “5”.
Checking the driven sprocket
1. Check the driven sprockets. Replace if
cracked, damaged, or worn.
Checking the camshaft
1. Measure the cam lobe height “a” and
width “b”.
2. Measure the camshaft runout.
3. Measure the camshaft journal diameter
“a” and cylinder head journal inside
diameter “b”.
