IMPORTANT: After fluid hose installation in the
following, bleed power steering system as out-
lined in appropriate Stern Drive Service Manual.
9. Connect both hydraulic hose fittings.

CAUTION
Route hoses exactly as shown below. This will
help avoid stress on the hose fittings and will
help avoid kinks in the hose.
IMPORTANT: Make hydraulic connections as
quickly as possible to prevent fluid leakage.
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to cross-thread or
overtighten fittings.
a. Earlier Style Control Valves: Torque the
large fitting to 23 lb. ft. (31 N·m). Torque the
small fitting to 100 lb. in. (11 N·m).

b. Later Style Control Valve: Torque both fit-
tings to 23 lb. ft. (31 N·m). Route hoses as
shown for each model.

NOTE: Spray terminals with a battery connection
sealant to help retard corrosion.
10. Using double hose clamps on all connections, in-
stall exhaust hoses and exhaust tubes as shown
in “a” or “b” following. Tighten all hose clamps se-
curely.
