8.9.3. Communication with Personal Computer
This section describes the way to back up the parameters of EDC Driver Unit to a personal
computer using Hyper Terminal, which is a bundled program with the Windows
TM
.
The user must provide the communication cable. Refer to “Appendix 6: Wiring of RS-232C
Communication Cable” for wiring of the cable.
For pin arrangement, refer to “2.8.1. CN1: RS-232C Serial Communication Cable Connector”
and the instruction manual of your personal computer.
◊ The pin arrangement for RS-232C connector of EDC Driver Unit is different from that
of DOS/V machines.
◊ An optional communication cable M-C003RS031] is available from NSK Ltd.
◊ For a personal computer that does not provide the COM port, you can use the USB port
instead. In such a case, use an RS-232C and USB gender bender for communication.
One of usable adapter “USB serial cable SRC06-USB” is available from Arvel Co.
8.9.3.1. Setup of Hyper Terminal
1) Start Hyper Terminal
◊ Specify it in the order of [Start] → [Programs] → [Accessories] →
[Communications].
2) The dialog box for “Connection Description” appears.
◊ Declare the name of connection and set an icon, then click [
OK] button.
◊ Set the number of COM port used for “Connection using.”
3) The dialog box for “

◊ Input required data following the table below and click [OK] button.
