Crankcase
7. Install the crankshaft journal bearings “1”
and thrust bearing “2” into the cylinder
block “3”.
TIP:
Install the crankshaft journal bearings “1” in
the original positions.
Install the thrust bearing “2” at the position
“a”.
8. Install new oil seal “1” onto the crankshaft
“2”, and then install the crankshaft onto
the cylinder block “3”.
9. Install the connecting rod caps “1” to the
piston and connecting rod assemblies,
and then tighten new connecting rod
bolts “2” to the specified torques in 3
stages.
TIP:
Make sure that the protrusions “a” on the
piston and connecting rod assemblies and
connecting rod caps “1” are facing toward
the flywheel magnet end of the crankshaft.
In the third tightening stage for the connect-
ing rod bolts “2”, mark the connecting rod
bolts and connecting rod cap with paint
marks “b”, and then tighten the connecting
rod bolts 90° from the marks on the con-
necting rod cap.
After tightening the connecting rod bolts
“2”, make sure that the crankshaft turns
smoothly.
