Stroke Volume Ratio (SV)
To measure stroke volume, you make a velocity measurement in
the Doppler spectrum. You measure an FCA (Flow Cross
Sectional Area) on the vessel in B-Mode. The system then uses
the velocity and FCA values to calculate SV (Stroke Volume).
1. Select SV from either the B-Mode or Doppler Touch Panel.
The trace caliper (horizontal dotted line) appears in the
Doppler spectrum.
2. Move the caliper to the measurement start point [dependent
on the trace method chosen (peak, floor, mean, or mode)].
3. Press Set.
The first caliper is fixed and a second is active.
4. Do one of the following:
• If you are using auto trace, move the Trackball to
position the second caliper at the velocity measurement
end point. Press Set.
The waveform maximum velocities are automatically
traced and a velocity value is displayed.
• If you are not using auto trace, move the Trackball to
trace the waveform. Press Set.
The trace waveform is fixed and the velocity value is
displayed.
A cross-point caliper appears in the B-Mode image to
measure FCA (Flow Cross Sectional Area).
5. Move the Trackball to position the caliper at a point on the
vessel wall.
