Chapter 15 Tips/FAQ/Troubleshooting
15-4-1
15.4 How to Check When Something Is Wrong
15.4.1 Troubleshooting Other Than Trip and Warning
 What to do if something is wrong?
 What to do if the inverter does not operate as expected?
 What to do if there is no problem with the inverter, but it does not work well?
 Examples of troubleshooting to be taken when the inverter is not tripped but does not operate
as expected are listed below. If there is a phenomenon corresponds to the "Problem" column,
please check each section described in the "Reference" column or the countermeasures
described from the next page.
 If the problem cannot be solved by checking the following items, please contact your supplier or
local Hitachi sales office.
Problem
Reference
1
A trip or warning has occurred. The display of
the keypad is different from normal.
Refer to "15.2 Troubleshooting for Protection
Functions Related Error" and "15.3
Troubleshooting for Warning Functions Related
Error" to cancel the cause of tripping or warning.
2
Keypad does not light up when the main power
is turned on (the power LED [PWR] does not
light).
Check "S1: Power does not turn on (Power LED
[PWR] on the main unit does not light up)".
3
The running LED [RUN] on the keypad does not
light up when RUN command is given.
Check "S2: RUN command setting or RUN
command is incorrect".
4
When RUN command is given, the running LED
[RUN] lights up and the unit is in operation
status. However, the inverter does not operate
with the intended frequency command. (The
indication of [F001] is 0 Hz, does not operate at
the intended frequency for the analog
voltage/current being actually input, etc.)
Check "S3: Frequency command setting or
frequency command is incorrect".
5
RUN command and frequency command are
given correctly, but the motor does not drive.
Check "S4: Frequency output shut-off/limit
function is working".
6
The motor is driven but not driven at the
intended frequency. (The indication of [F001] is
the frequency command actually given, but the
motor speed does not become the intended
output, the output frequency becomes
oscillatory or unstable, etc.)
Check the following according to the situation.
"S5: Motor speed does not increase"
"S6: Motor rotates in reverse"
"S7: Output frequency becomes unstable"
"S8: Torque is not generated"
7
The parameter to be set is not displayed, or the
parameter cannot be set.
Check "S9: Parameters to be set are not
displayed" or "S10: Keypad cannot be operated
or parameters cannot be set".
8
Problems other than the above are occurring.
Check "S11: Noises of motor and machine are
noisy" and later to solve the problem. If the
problem still persists, please contact your
supplier or local Hitachi inverter sales office.
