4. Replace the top cover. See “Replacing the top cover” on page 72.
5. Place the node in the rack. See “Replacing the SAN Volume Controller in a rack” on page 48.
6. Reconnect the external cables, and then reconnect the power cords and the node.
7. If there is a problem restarting the node, see MAP 5900 and then connect a monitor and keyboard to
the system and reset the BIOS date and time.
Replacing the SAN Volume Controller 2145-8F4 or SAN Volume Controller
2145-8F2 CMOS battery
This product was designed with your safety in mind. The lithium battery must be handled correctly to
avoid possible danger. If you replace the battery, you must adhere to all safety instructions.
CAUTION:
The battery contains lithium. To avoid possible explosion, do not burn or charge the battery.
Do not:
v Throw or immerse into water
v Heat to more than 100°C (212°F)
v Repair or disassemble
Exchange only with the IBM-approved part. Recycle or discard the battery as instructed by local
regulations. In the United States, IBM has a process for the collection of this battery. For information,
call 1-800-426-4333. Have the IBM part number for the battery unit available when you call. (C003)
Use the reference numbers in parentheses at the end of each notice, such as (C003) for example, to find
the matching translated notice in IBM Systems Safety Notices.
Perform the following steps to replace the SAN Volume Controller 2145-8F2 or SAN Volume Controller
2145-8F4 CMOS battery:
1. Insert the new battery in the battery socket. Figure 148 on page 140 shows the location (
