13. Remove the four memory modules and place them on a static-protective surface for reinstallation.
See “Removing the memory modules (DIMM)” on page 94.
14. Remove the heat-sink air baffle and the heat sink. Clean the thermal grease from the microprocessor
before you remove it. You can also clean the heat sink now.
15. Remove the microprocessor. See “Removing the microprocessor” on page 221.
16. Notice the orientation of the microprocessor retention module and then remove the four screws (
1
in Figure 270 on page 247) that hold the microprocessor retention module to the system board. Then,
lift the retention module out of the server.
